Benicia City Cemetery Clean-up
Interested in helping clean-up our historic Benicia City Cemetery?
Benicians Adopting Benicia is sponsoring a much-needed City Cemetery clean-up with the support and supervision of the City’s Parks and Rec Department.
The clean-up will consist of light to moderate landscaping –mostly light raking, removing small fallen branches and tree bark of the upper Cemetery.
Social distancing is part of the process.
Here are more details:
Free T-Shirts: We are giving out free BCF /BAB T-shirts (while supplies last), so be one of the first to register to get your t-shirt.
Refreshments: We’re very pleased to announce that lunch is being sponsored by two of our local restaurants, Sandoval’s and Sprankle’s Deli. Bottled water will be supplied. You’re always welcome to bring additional non-alcoholic drinks or snacks. If you plan on sitting, bring a chair.
Date: Saturday, May 1, 2021. Maximum number of participants is 50 so register early at BeniciaCF.org
Time: We’re meeting at 8:30AM and plan on finishing around 1-2PM, including a supplied lunch. Or come join us when you can and help for as long as you like.
Where: City Cemetery- Upper Area – 150 Riverhill Dr, Benicia
What to wear: sturdy closed toed shoes, long sleeve shirt and long pants are suggested, a hat and sunglasses (if you like), and a mask.
What to bring: gardening gloves. If you have a rake, shovel, pitch-fork, wheelbarrow, or an old tarp or two, we could use them too!!
If you plan on sitting, you’ll need to bring a chair.
What NOT to bring: NO power tools of any kind
What to expect: We will have a table set up in the parking lot at the top of the Cemetery for check-in. The parking area in the Cemetery may be full, so please park on Riverhill, and we will shuttle you to the location.
The City and BCF are providing liability and a Photo release form to be signed by all participants. Please click on this link for the release forms.
Please print, sign and bring both of them with you. If you can’t print them or forget, no worries, we will have them at the location.
A City representative will go over the clean-up that’s needed. The basic clean-up consists of light raking, removing small branches and fallen tree bark.
We will divide into small social distancing teams and areas for the clean- up. If you are limited on what you can do, please let us know so we can keep you in your comfort zone. Also, there are areas that are sloped and consist of uneven terrain.
The City will provide ADA Compliant portable restroom.
Again, social distancing is part of the process.
