Benicia, CA – The Benicia Community Foundation is delighted to announce the unveiling ceremony for the Harold Bray Tribute and Indianapolis Veterans Memorial, honoring Benicia’s beloved hometown hero, Harold Bray, and the remarkable service and sacrifices of all our veterans.

This event will take place on May 18th from 10am-11:30am at Eunice Jensen Park in Benicia, California.

Harold Bray, a retired Benicia Police Department officer and lone living survivor of the tragic USS Indianapolis naval disaster, was awarded the Purple Heart and the WWII Victory Medal for his extraordinary perseverance and resilience. The Harold Bray Monument will serve as a tribute to Mr. Bray and all veterans, signifying our loyalty to our community and country.

The unveiling ceremony will commence at 10:00am at Eunice Jensen Park, at the corner of First Street and Military East, where the Harold Bray Tribute and Indianapolis Veterans Memorial will stand as an enduring symbol of bravery and dedication.

Following the unveiling ceremony, visitors and residents are invited to take a ride on a charming trolley car that will be available to transport visitors up and down First Street in Benicia throughout the afternoon, offering a delightful way to explore the city’s vibrant streets and historic landmarks while celebrating the enduring spirit of our community.
